The motor in our driver side window doesn't always work optimaly. Troy loves to take things apart and try to fix them or see how they work. I, on the other hand want a garantee that things will work after someone fiddles with them. So as Troy is taking the door apart I repeatedly suggest that we take it to someone who knows what they are doing who has the proper tools. Troy reminds me how much this could possibly cost and says it will be fine. In the end we couldn't get the motor out of the door to fix it so it still doesn't work properly but hey, at least the automatic door opener doesn't work either. We got two broken features for the price of nothing. Now that's a steal!

Oh my gosh, I can't tell you how many times we have done that too!! It looks so scary. I always think that they are not going to put all the parts back!
HAHAHA, why didn't he just call Brenden?
I think that he did call Brenden for something. Don't remember what it was. I'll remind him to call more often the next time he tries to fix the car.
Yeah, well fix mine too, or break it. Whatever. Broken might even be an improvement in my window. Hey, I priced the part for mine and it was like 350 bucks. Needless to say, I open the door when I go to Sonic.
And all these things add to your experience! Oh the things we learn. Les's experience was trying to get one part of the side panel tightened while we were going down the freeway in my folks' van. By the time we reached our destination the entire side was undone. EVERYTHING was connected. Surprise! Now we're old enough to find our bodies work the same way.
Good luck. Love ya both
Mom Becca
I did the same thing to my old Toyota Corolla in college. I spent hours out in my apt parking lot trying to fix the stupid motors on the window. They'd work for awhile, then they'd break again (I guess they'd mostly just get off track and then the window wouldn't roll up or down correctly). That's why we try to avoid power windows if we can! Now, though, every car has them. Good job, Troy! Two broken features!
Boy, selective memory is AMAZING!!! I (Les) just read the comments here, and suddenly found out that supposedly I (me, Les, Paco) took a van door apart on Becca's folks van door way back. It was really BECCA'S DAD who was taking HIS door apart as someone else was driving (this was before mandatory seat belt laws). I was actually sitting by the window on the driver side (2nd seat behing=d the driver), while her dad got the idea to quickly fix the latch on the sliding door of the van while the trip was going on. We've talked about this for years, how the door panel, and handle, and so on were inter-connected, and by the time their van was back at the Aspen house in Concord Grandpa Walgren a bunch of loose parts. I think my wife is developing some loose parts to suddenly attribute his actions to me! Oh we.., we're both baldish, oldish, and boring professor types...so it's easy to get the two of us mixed up!
Les.
that has got to be the best picture of Troy ever!!! Two broken things for the price of 1?!! Sweeet deal! :)
I meant to call you to find out how that project went. Call me next time you get to the point you are at in that picture and I will walk you through it. You can try spraying all the moving parts with grease, but window regulators usually just need replaced. Try looking for used parts at http://car-part.com/
Ah Rebekah, I appreciate the effort and creativity exhibited by Troy. I remember your frugal Tool Man cutting the handle off a wrench and grinding it down to make your first engagement ring… and you said YES! I wouldn't say that this should have been an unpredictable behavior, don’t you think???
I hope you will encourage each other as you budget and learn to do new things. It is fun to look back later and laugh at your attempts while enjoying the fruit of your successes. The only failure is not trying.
Love you guys
Aunt Janet
Did you try putting a raw egg and pepper down the hole? Or was it duct tape and bailing wire? B tells me they are cure alls on cars.
